Clutter can be overwhelming. Our to do list can make us want to give up. Our brains convince us that it’s all too much.

But using a timer and breaking our tasks into smaller bites can feel more manageable.

Whatever you’re tackling today, just do the next right thing. Small steps, small wins. You can do this 😄

“Just be yourself.” My entire year has been about acceptance. This post is about self-acceptance. Not worrying about who I’m not, but accepting that I’m a flawed human who loves through this world at her own pace.

What if we spent more time moving through our day unapologetically? Making choices out of abundance goodness and peace instead of defensiveness and strife - oh how unburdened would we be?

Unburden yourself, friend. Because what they think really doesn’t matter. The collective “they” are probably not out there doing the things you care about either. So be free. Be you. Be brave. Be where you need to be.

When your brain is scattered, there have to be some things that bring you joy. Some type of small routine that grounds you and pulls you back from all of the thoughts and tasks and to do lists on your mind.

Believe me, as a busy mother with ADHD, my brain wants to take me in all sorts of directions. And I wind up feeling guilty for the things that I missed because I was thinking about things too quickly, and moving through my day in a scattered way instead of a methodical way.

The truth is, an ADHD brain will do. It’s best to conserve energy by moving through life too quickly. But the moments when we can stop and rest and think through our tasks, our brain gets to catch up with our body and we can make better choices.

What is a task that keeps you grounded in order to move forward when your brain feels scattered?

JULY 2025 Recap

I planned a getaway for myself this month, and it went better than I ever could have hoped. This is just a brief recap, I just wanted to think all of my sweet friends and family who made this the July of a lifetime.

July 3-7 DENVER | @dawnie2007 Dawn, you are such a treasure to me. I had a blast celebrating 4th of July with your family, road tripping with you and Kevin and mom around @rockynps , and having such a precious reconnective time.

July 7-9, 14-18 CLEVELAND | my oldest college buddy Nikki - you opened your home with hospitality, cooking, and conversation, such as I’ve never seen before. After not seeing you for 13 years, it felt like a day had not gone by. Thank you for binging 1883 with me, letting me drag you out to the beautiful lavender farm, and then trips around Amish country for the day.

July 9-13 MICHIGAN | Thank you @melissa.mulvaney for taking a chance to road trip with a girl you had not met in person yet. I had a blast being your roommate and travel partner that week as we experienced deep transformation and inspiration at the @speakupconference i’m looking forward to going again next year and meeting up with our sweet friends @tiffanyjobaker @lisa_michelle13 @angelasuegarvey @katie_m_reid Scott Lindsey and so many others! There’s a message in all of us, and we must share SO THE NEXT GENERATION WILL KNOW.

July 18-23 CALIFORNIA | To my amazing family who welcomed me into every home with a new baby niece (not pictured for privacy), congrats to @jonahsansketos and @jaime_logan828 !!! A hot spring day spa experience at @glenivy_spa with sister in law @joshkarlogan lots of laughs with Josh & Jonah, and a triple dose of @jaclynsara1414 Flores love from all the nieces and nephews. Love you Mom and Dad @valee59

Settled back in HONOLULU and ready to start a new school year with my teenagers in the middle of their high school years. Leading their speech and debate club for the second year and growing our homeschool community at Arise Academy 🥰

Hanging with my homies in Colorado this weekend. Middle America certainly knows how to celebrate the 4th of July!

I’ve been thinking about how we pass on personal freedom, courage, and resilience to our kids. As Moms, we are charged to lead them well and support their growth into the person THEY will become. But boy is it hard to step back and let that happen, right?

It’s painful to watch them take their own risks, but just as the founders of this great country stepped out to do brave things when the outcome wasn’t guaranteed, we have to give our kids the wind their wings need to fly free!

Walking in freedom as a Mom means trusting ourselves to navigate the tough moments of motherhood with grace and wisdom. Today we celebrate not just our nation’s independence, but our own strength as mothers leading our families through challenges, big and small. Every difficult decision, every sleepless night, every moment we choose love over fear - we’re raising the next generation to be brave, kind, and free. Trust yourself, mama. You’re doing harder things than you know. 🇺🇸✨
